One farmer witnessed a "funnel shaped cloud accompanied by a roar" like a truck at Silver Creek. The adjoining garage lost its roof and its doors were bent inward, falling onto the vehicles inside. Another information statement will follow shortly. The worst damage occurred north-northeast of Adairsville where the tornado crossed Route 663. It is very plain that nothing can be sucked into the tornado, because of a partial vacuum there; but if it rushes in or up, it must be borne or propelled by a stream of electricity, so to speak, or by a rush of air. Debris from the double wides was tossed around a mile downwind. The tornado produced EF1 and EF0 damage in Simpson County until it lifted at Russellville-Gallatin Road at 2:09pm CDT. When a violent tornado passes over a building where the doors and windows are closed, the walls are sometimes thrown outward with great force, the house presenting the appearance of an explosion, indicating that the pressure of the air on the outside of the building was suddenly diminished, and the house was burst open by the expansion of the air within.. Notes: The tornado mostly did damage to the upper halves of several trees along its path. Hazen stood in the way of JP Finley, arguing that much tornado damage was attributable to electricity, not wind. The tornado grew in strength very rapidly, and after traveling only about a mile it crossed Boone Creek and completely swept away a house on the Clark County side of the creek.
